READING IS FUN…damental!

March 2 is the National Education Association’s Read Across America Day. But I’m a big fan of reading, so I think that we should make it a priority every day, not just one day a year. Are you a big fan of reading? Are your kids?

If you’ve had trouble getting your kids excited about reading. Check out these books. They’re some of my absolute favorite kids’ books, and they just might get your kids excited about reading.

  • Little Jimmy Says, “Same Is Lame!” by Jimmy Vee – This revolutionary book teaches kids to embrace their uniqueness, so they realize just how special they really are.
  • Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst – The perfect book for teaching kids that sometimes we all have bad days, but there’s always tomorrow to look forward to.
  • Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White – Teaching about everything from the power or friendship to the natural cycles of life and death, this book has been touching hearts and helping little ones grow since 1952.
  • Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin, Jr. and John Archambault – A fantastically fun way for your kids to learn the alphabet.
  • The Seven Habits of Happy Kids by Stephen Covey – A collection of seven stories about the animals who make up the Seven Oaks Community. These stories start teaching the power of Covey’s 7 Habits to kids ages 4-8. It’s never to early to start developing great habits.

What’re some of your favorite children’s books? Even if you don’t have kids or if your little ones are all grown up, this is a great month to donate some books to local schools and share the love of reading with the next generation!
